Friedrich Justin Bertuch’s Bilderbuch für Kinder, was a large picture encyclopedia book for school children that ended up pleasing everyone, adults included.   The scope of the work was vast, covering diverse topics in 12 volumes being published from 1790 to 1810 and containing 1,187 prints of a wonderfully comprehensive & eclectic nature.  Bertuch himself was the son of a physician later studying theology and then law in Jena.  He became a successful publisher in Weimar, Germany, employing many of the best engravers and illustrators of the time.  The 5x7 card is blank inside and comes with an accompanying envelope - shipping is free.
