One of the best ornithological works of the nineteenth century includes the 1845 edition of James Bolton’s Harmonia Ruralis; Or, An Essay Towards a Natural History of British Song Birds: Illustrated with Figures, the Size of Life, of the Birds, Male and Female, in Their Most Natural Attitudes; Their Nests and Eggs.  Bolton was an English painter, illustrator and naturalist who lived around Halifax for his entire life.  He was an avid student of flora and fauna of the field and published a book on ferns and another on fungi before creating what is surely his masterpiece, the Harmonia Ruralis.  We are happy to offer a selection of these charming images.  The 5x7 card is blank inside and comes with an accompanying envelope - shipping is free.
